As we carry out these vaccinations projects, we also organize awareness campaigns about animal welfare and rabies control, both through community-engagement about animals’ five freedoms ( Freedom from hunger and thirst; Freedom from discomfort; Freedom from pain, injury, and disease; Freedom to express normal behavior; Freedom from fear and distress) and flyers describing dog population management. These activities are jointly carried out by NVVH and the participating students, which gives them a chance to practice community engagement, a vital skill for vets regardless of their origin which is rarely trained in universities.
